Almost £1m for children's centres

MONEY totalling £960,000 is to be spent on Derby's children's centres which provide childcare and advice for parents of under-fives.

West End Children's Centre at Central Nursery School is having £350,000 spent on offices and meeting rooms.

At Spondon Children's Centre, at Asterdale Primary School, £260,000 is being used for offices and a reception.

A total of £20,000 is being spent on automatic doors at Sinfin, and extra parking at North Chaddesden Children's Centre, at Cavendish Close Infant school.

At Pear Tree Children's Centre, at Pear Tree Junior School, £85,000 will go on a reception and meeting area.

The remaining £219,000 will be retained for further work on other children's centres.

The programme is expected to be approved by Derby City Council's cabinet tomorrow.
