£280 raised for air ambulance
A YOUNG rugby player injured during a match inspired a disco which raised £280 in aid of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
The event was organised by Sue Wroe, of Ashbourne, after she heard how the ambulance helped the player.
Her son's team, Ashbourne Under-12s, were playing a match last year against Melbourne Under-12s when a player in that team fell and was believed to have injured his neck.
Sue, 47, said: "A normal ambulance couldn't reach him, because the pitch was muddy, so the air ambulance was called.
"As far as I'm aware everything was fine, the ambulance was called as a precaution."
The disco was held at Ashbourne Bowls Club.
