The firm, which offered courses in health and safety, environment, engineering and technology, has the same parent company as the conference centre – RTC Group.
In a statement, RTC said: "RTC Group plc has put its training subsidiary Catalis Limited into administration. Although restructuring in 2009 brought the business close to break-even in the first quarter of 2010, significant revenue shortfalls in the second quarter and the uncertainty over future industry spend on rail training has led to this action being taken.
"The group explored a range of options in respect of the Catalis business prior to taking this action.
"All other group companies continue to trade as normal."
Catalis was based at the former London Midland and Scottish College of Rail Technology. It became known as Catalis Rail Training during a relaunch in 1998 and, in 2009, as Catalis Ltd.
It is not known which administrators have been called in but one worker, who did not wish to be named, said a skeleton staff had been kept on while a buyer was found for the company.
She claimed that workers had not been paid for June but had been allowed to clear their desks. She said staff had already had a 10% cut in their wages for around the past nine months.
The woman said: "We feel very upset because we have been allowed to work on and received no wages."
