A 92-YEAR-OLD man had pension money stolen from his Sinfin home during a distraction burglary.

The man went to collect the cash from a post office in Shakespeare Street at 12.30pm on Monday.

Before he entered the shop, he dropped some letters on the floor and was helped by a passer-by. They then followed the victim into the shop while he withdrew the money.

Police say that, about 20 minutes later, the same passer-by knocked at the man's home in Wordsworth Avenue and asked if he could borrow a pen and paper.

The victim got the items but, when he returned, the man was sitting at his table where the victim had put his pension money. The offender fled and the victim realised the money was missing.

Investigating officers say the offender was white, aged around 30, and was wearing blue trousers and a light- coloured baseball cap.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
