Abandoned dog 'strangled itself' on lead, officials believe
A DOG is thought to have strangled itself to death after being abandoned near a disused railway line in Ilkeston.
The young female, thought to be a Staffordshire Bull terrier, was found dead at Straw's Bridge.

RSPCA officers said the dog had been left tied up with this lead overnight but was later found dead.
RSPCA officers said she had been tied to railings on a very short lead which she had struggled against, causing her to choke and eventually die.
Charity inspector Sarah Gardner said: "This is a really sad case and heart-breaking to think this poor dog has strangled to death as a result of being left tied-up unattended.

"Our gut feeling is this dog has probably been abandoned overnight but, because she was on such a short rope, she has struggled and managed to get caught up and accidently strangled herself."
She was found on Monday of last week.

“All I can say here is to publish the name and address of the owners of this poor dog who died needlessly and let nature takes it course.
this story made me very upset and angry that even if found the owners will live to see another day and to go on to have other animals that may die through there cruelty and neglet, I so hope the owners of this beautiful dog die a cruel long death”

“Pity we can't tie the owner up in the same manner so they choke to death. To abandon an animal is bad enough but when they die it is even worse. If they didn't want her animal shelters would have taken her. She died needlessly. Throw the book at them when they are caught.”
