Aggregates firm shows true grit with profits rise
AN aggregates firm near Castle Donington has reported a rise in profits and sales, despite the struggling UK construction market.
In its annual results published this morning, Breedon Aggregates, based at Breedon-on-the-Hill, posted an operating profit of £8.8 million, in the 12 months to December 31, which was 55.4% up on the year before.

Sales also grew by 2.7% to £173.5 million
The firm said that in 2012 it sold 4.3 million tonnes of aggregates, 1.2 million tonnes of asphalt and 481,000 cubic metres of ready-mixed concrete.

We're bombarded with news items about 'closure' this and 'recession that' so it's heartening to know that it's not all foom and gloom out there.. hopefully, there's a little light at the end of the tunnel.”
