TICKNALL'S overseas express, Tanvir Ahmed, turned in a spectacular match-winning performance at home to Lullington Park on Saturday – but has it come too late to save his side from relegation?

Ticknall took maximum points after they had posted only 155 all out in 38 overs, with Edward Bridgeman scoring 68.

Then Ahmed took over, hitting the stumps five times as he raced to a return of 8-32 in 12.1 overs.

Lullington were shot out for only 88 and the only blot on Ticknall's day was that they lost one of their 27 points for having no scorer on the day.

They brought in Ahmed for his ability to be a match-winner and he has now managed it three times, taking 5-37 and hitting 53 in 32 balls when they beat Elvaston and smashing an unbeaten 136 from 87 balls when they surprised Sandiacre back in May.

But the reality is that Ticknall still look likely to go down, as they are 38 points away from third-bottom Dunstall with three matches to play.
