THE cold water from heavy rain put many fish off as Dynamite Baits Makins held their Thursday open on the Derwent Pool.

Most catches came from the deeper water down the track, with a variety of baits working well.

Top weight fell to Long Eaton Victoria AS's Dave Kent (pictured), who took all his 60lb 12oz net on meat from peg 23.

Kobra Feeders' John Adamson took his second-place 47lb 14oz of 14 carp on paste from peg 27.

Lee Farmer (Browning Central) was third with a mixed bag of carp, bream, roach, gudgeon and a golden tench weighing in at 41lb 4oz.

Weights were better the previous day as Makins held their Wednesday open on Lake Two.

Drennan angler Paul Yates used his expertise to take top weight with 211lb from peg B6.

He started on straight bomb and pellet but switched to pole and meat in the margins later on.

His net contained 37 carp and a few bream.

Dynamite Makins' Andrew Williams was second with 116lb 2oz from peg B20.

His net included an 18lb mirror carp and was taken on the method feeder.

Fox Match Trentman's Jason Labosquet was third with a pole/meat caught 114lb 12oz from peg A9.
