I MUST reply to John H. Keith ("Are all the foxes making new homes in Littleover?", Opinions, September 2).

"Littleover, where most people would like to live; plenty of parks, nice little shopping areas, houses with decent gardens, decent law-abiding residents."

Where does he think everyone else lives, in tents? So there are no law-abiding residents living anywhere else?

Perhaps the reason that houses do not sell as quick is that no one wants to move to that area any more.

I have worked in Littleover a lot in the building trade and it is nothing special.

Now Littleover is slowly being overwhelmed by foxes and Mr Keith wants a cull because they have turned into vermin and showing contempt for humans. They are wild animals, what does he expect?

It was very sad that the two children were attacked but what about children and adults being savaged by dogs. Are they to be culled as well?

Most likely the hunt on his friend's farm has stopped because the fox-hunting brigade have killed them all.

I live just across the road from fields and we get foxes outside during the night barking, but I am not going to demand a cull. If it was up to Mr Keith and his law-abiding residents in Littleover, there would be no wildlife for people to see.

“Foxes aren't vermin. Yes if they get into chicken coops, they will kill all the chickens. However, they can only physically carry one chicken away at a time.

If the fox is undisturbed, they WILL come back and retrieve the rest the rest of the chickens.

It's just that after all the noise that the chickens make, someone has usually come down and scared the fox off so they can only get one away.

Everything has the right to a life, and at least they only kill to eat”

“How about a cull on the lowlife cowardly scum that attacked me from behind and mugged me a few weeks ago leaving me scarred, and property both broken and stolen

Humans are the only vermin on this planet, so leave the foxes alone, they just live as they know how, humans should know right from wrong.”

“there is a Co-op in Littleover, its opposite the pub, next to the petrol station. Is that the same?
Never seen foxes in there though, I don't think they could open the freezer cabinet doors to get the chicken out”

“Foxes are vermin and should be culled to keep numbers down. They cause damage and kill for the sake of it and not just what they require to eat - eg they enter a chicken coop, kill the lot but only eat one.”
