Attempted robber had cheek burned by cigarette after approaching woman in Makeney Road, Holbrook

A WOMAN burned the cheek of an attempted robber with a cigarette and hit him around the head with a bag of meat, according to police.

Officers have just released information about the incident - with the 29-year-old victim walking home and at the junction of Makeney Road and Pond Road, in Holbrook, when she was approached by a man who tugged at her bag.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: "As she swung round, she caught him with her cigarette and burned his cheek.  She then hit him around the head with a bag containing meat and he ran off."

He said it happened between on Saturday, March 9 between 2.10pm and 2.35pm.

The man was described as white, about 5ft 10ins tall and of skinny build.  He was in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a green waterproof coat, blue jeans, white trainers and a black beanie hat.
