The BMW was taken from outside a house in Trent Lane, Kings Newton, on Saturday afternoon.

A police spokesman said: "The owner was upstairs at his property at 2.15pm when he heard a bang.

"He looked outside to see his car being driven away at speed.

"When he went downstairs, he saw that the burglar had forced open a window to get into the property and take the keys to the car."

Anyone who can help police should call 101.
