Car left dangling off bridge
A car was left dangling off the side of a bridge after it ploughed through a stone wall.
At about 7.50am this morning, police responded to a report that a Honda Jazz had smashed into a bridge wall on the A514 Swarkestone Road near Swarkestone.
Part of the wall had been knocked off into the Trent and Mersey Canal below.
The canal was closed to boaters and British Waterways were called to clear the wreckage.

“What are you on about, frozzie1? There's no mention of Swarkestone Bridge in the article.
The bridge in question (and the picture) is the one on Swarkestone Road approximately 450m from the A50 roundabout.”
