“The problem is not the roads,it's drivers going too fast, too close,do not use their indicators,I would prefer too arrive 2 mins late in this world than 1 min early in the next world”

“This is a terrible junction with poor visibility joing a terrible road with fast moving traffic. The slip road needs extending so that traffic can see what's coming, especially as most drivers on the slip road don't slow down much and join the A38 carriageway forcing cars to brake.
Improvements on this stretch of the A38, in fact on all of the A38 between Kingsway and Little Eaton, are long overdue.
Where are our MPs on this, they should be representing the people of Derby on this issue, our major roads are unsatisfactory, I mean who thought up just putting in an overpass in one direction only at the Pentagon island, somewhere else you can't move at peak times.
Mind you I suppose that applies to most of the A52 to Nottingham.”

    “Dianae
The article states the slip road OFF the A38 onto Ked Road (ie A38 northbound)
Not the slip road you mention in first post, and any traffic caught up behind would cause queues on A38 northbound not Ked road
Hence my comment that the information given in the article is either incorrect, or confusing
No information is sometimes better than the wrong information.”

“ps Ked Rd would have been partially blocked in both directions by a crash on slip road. Traffic would have piled up behind crash back onto Ked Rd causing some blocking for those heading out of city as well as into”

“as of 10ish, traffic was a bit heavier than usual southbound onto Markeaton Island but moving along reasonably. I don't know how far north queue went
Crash on slip road cleared away and traffic on Ked Rd into town lighter than usual - presumably people heard of crash and went elsewhere.
The sliproad from Ked Rd onto A38 is a pain - it is poorly signed for traffic approaching along A38 so even when there is space in outer lane, traffic doesn't move over. Visiblity is poor as trees grow fairly close. And A38 traffic is generally going over 40 limit (though that would not have been case at time of accident as 5/10 mph is standard at rush hour)”

“should the headline not more accurately state -
"Long delays somewhere, but we are not quite sure where"

"there is still congestion on the southbound A38 to the Coxbench Road junction and to Toyota Island"
I presume you mean Northbound back to Toyota, and southbound to Coxbench Road

"on the slip road from the A38 to Kedleston Road between... "
So Northbound sliproad off the A38 then (there is no southbound exit onto Kedleston Road)

"Kedleston Road was partially blocked in both directions "
So was it on the slip road, at the top of the slip road, or actually on Kedleston Road?
If it was constrained to the exit sliproad, I wouldnt have thought it would affect Kedleston Road traffic too badly”
