Barcelona linked with Derby County midfielder Will Hughes
NIGEL Clough has backed Will Hughes to keep his feet on the ground as Spanish giants Barcelona became the latest club to be linked with Derby County's young midfielder.
The 17-year-old has already been linked with a number of the top clubs in the Premier League including Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Will Hughes
Now, one national newspaper reports that Barcelona are tracking Hughes after being alerted to his talents when he played for England Under-17s last season.
Speculation over his future is likely to escalate ahead of the January transfer but Derby are quick to stress they have had no contact from any club.

"And certainly not from Barcelona!" smiled Clough.
The Rams manager admits that the speculation surrounding Hughes is inevitable.
"Will being linked to the Premier League was always going to happen, we knew that," said Clough, who is confident Hughes will remain unfazed by all the attention.
"To do what he has done at 17 and a half just goes to show the potential that he has," added Clough.
"As well as Will is doing at the moment, it is still largely based on potential.
"He has still got a long way to go and he knows that.
"Will's a level-headed lad and he's kept everything in perspective, which is something we really like about him because it is vital he keeps focused on football. That is going to be the most important thing.
"We have said to him all along that if he stays grounded, does not get carried away and does things right for the next 18 months it will set him up for his career."
Hughes has become a first-team regular this season and he made his debut for England Under-21s against Northern Ireland last week.

“We are not learning from our passed mistakes. We sell our potential players and bye bye premiership. How the hell we are going to improve our position in the championship and our ambition to the premiership, if we sell our most talented players. I expect, the board invested money, to make profit but for God`s sake do not sell our most talented players. We the supporters deserve better. It`s not Nigel fault, I know. He must be eager to lift Derby from the championship to the premier. Come on Derby.”

“IF N/C WAS DOING SUCH A GREAT JOB AT PP AND WAS SO HIGHLY THOUGHT OF WITHIN THE GAME HOW COME HE WAS NOT LINKED WITH ANY OF THE VACANIES AT EITHER BOLTON,BURNLEY,BLACKPOOL, IPSWICH OR PALACE OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND HE'S LUCKY HE DOES NOT WORK FOR ABRAMOVICH AT CHELSEA AS HE WOULD NOT HAVE LASTED FIVE MINUTES, NEVER MIND FOUR YEARS WHETHER HE HAD MONEY TO SPEND OR NOT.
AS FOR WILL HUGHES ANYONE WHO IS NOT DELUDED KNOWS HE WILL NOT BE HERE ON 1/2/13 WHETHER HE GOES TO BARCELONA OR MAN.CITY.SIMPLE AS THAT.THE ONLY QUESTION IS HOW MUCH GSE WILL GET FOR HIM?”

“TBH he his better stopping at Derby for at least another couple of seasons. Surley first team football is any young lads objective than sitting in the reserves along with all the other young english talant.
The big clubs only buy the young talant to sit and waste away to prevent anyone else from buying them.
He is a above average player for the championship at the moment with experience and games under his belt becoming a good player to very good.
He his no Rooney who at his age was a different class who could more than hold his own at the top level.”
