TOMORROW night's clash between Derby County and Hull City is set to attract the biggest midweek crowd of the season to Pride Park Stadium.

The Rams are hoping for an attendance of around 24,000 as they look to continue their impressive home form.

Four wins from their last five home games have left them with the fifth-best home record in the Championship.

The sequence has seen them beat Blackpool, Barnsley, Birmingham City and Leeds United and draw with leaders Cardiff City.

Only Cardiff, Leicester City, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace have won more home points this season.

The highest midweek gate at Pride Park this season is 22,059 for the goalless draw against Brighton in October.

Derby's average attendance this season stands at 22,273 and is the third best in the Championship, behind Brighton (25,493) and Sheffield Wednesday (23,673).

“Well there you go...what a surprise...we lost at home to Hull...it is not rocket science to know that playing on a Friday night is a flyer for the away team, but that basic knowledge my friends is well beyond this management lot; enjoy your turkey GSE.”

“A lovely picture of your ground and unless I'm mistaken I believe it was taken during the game v Barnsley! Isn't it weird that not so long ago direby fans were scoffing at Forest getting a 24,000 crowd and now they are wetting their frillies that the introduction of all the freebies on offer may help them to get their place two thirds full. direby are on fire at the minute so I don't fancy Hull's chances even with 9 thousand empty seats I still think you will win 3 or 4 nil. Merry Christmas!...KTF!”

“It is true that the reason given at the time for moving several games forward to Friday was to give the players an extra days rest. I think this is because we realise that we have a small squad and squad rotation isn't really an option.”

“Absolutely Tadley. Moving the match wasn't down to the owners, the manager wanted it shifted to give his players more recovery time before boxing day. What possible benefit could GSE get out of moving a Saturday game to a Friday? Certainly there will be no financial gain for the club. Another rant at GSE which isn't justified by the actual facts, then again why let facts get in the way.”

“This decision was totally down to Clough, he wanted the players to have extra rest before matches, not fair on season ticket holders who travel a long way for home games, when they have been giving tickets away at the club shop if you buy something.!!! Bigger crowds for these fixtures will give them justification to do it again.”

“Yet another cockamamy GSE excuse, no doubt so that they can hop of home to the US a day earlier. You will recall the last lame excuse was it was too cold to play so they postponed just as it happened around their Thanksgiving last year, what a coincidence....This is a contemptuous idea, completely out of tune with Saturday football and insulting to fans who have to travel. We have enough to contend with the idiotic police-state game times being moved without the club owners deciding on what SUITS THEM BEST and not the long suffering fans. What planet is Nigel and his mates on, at least he could have shouted up for the fans?? Fans come last again as clueless GSE continue their apparent quest to make DCFC just another provincial club.”

“Poor show DCFC and I am not impressed.
What about us that don't live locally ?
What numpty decided to move a match to the day everyone breaks up for Xmas and traditionally goes out for a few pints with their employees and work colleagues?
Hope it fails and the gate is below 20,000

Why is it that supporters are never considered when making these decisions ?”

“It is very unfair to non local fans to move a Saturday game to Friday evening. Luckily I have one last 1/2 day to take off so I can get to it.”
