BLIND chess players have battled it out in Derby at a club's annual meeting.

A total of 26 blind chess players pitted their skills over a match of five games at the Midland Hotel, as part of the Braille Chess Association's annual meeting and "chess congress".

Derby Lions president Barbara Edmunds presented the overall winner's trophy to Chris Ross from Cambridgeshire.

A sponsorship of £500 was awarded to the association by the Derby Lions.
