Boy, 12, victim of Derby park beating for second time
A 12-YEAR-OLD boy who bravely gave evidence in court after being attacked has now been beaten up again in the same Derby park – along with his friend.
A gang of teenagers dragged Jason Bee and Liam Paxton off a swing and zip wire before kicking and punching the school pupils, leaving them in hospital.
For Jason, it was the second time he had been the victim of an attack at Alvaston Park in the space of a year.
Last February he was kicked and pushed as yobs tried to steal his skateboard – an incident that led to Jason taking the witness stand at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court.
The latest attack was on Monday afternoon. Liam's six-year-old brother, Kadan, was also with them but was not targeted.
Now Jason's furious mother, Shirley Fenn, says she is considering never letting her son go to the park again.
She said: "It was the first day of half-term and all he and Liam were doing was playing in the play area.
"Then four or five teenagers who were older than them told them to get off the swing.
"They both did that and they still got beaten up.
"Jason was kicked in the back, hit on the temple and punched in the side of his cheek, while Liam was also punched in the face."
The police were called and both boys were taken to the Royal Derby Hospital.
They were sent home to rest as their injuries were not too serious.
His mother said that she was still angry about what happened.
She said: "We live right next to the park. Jason should be able to go and play there without fear of being beaten up but it's beginning to look like it's not safe."
Liam's mother, Sarah Paxton, said: "It's just not on. They hit both of them a few times. Liam's only 11 years old – he's gone so quiet since it happened.
"He says he's never going back there again."
Staff at the park's cafe called the police after Jason came in hurt and told them what had happened.
Jason said: "I want to say a thank-you to the staff for looking after me and being so nice."
Alvaston Park is owned by Derby City Council.
A spokeswoman for the authority said: "The park ranger service provides a regular presence and the parks' team work closely with the police, neighbourhood boards and anti-social behaviour team to try to reduce antisocial behaviour and ensure the city's parks are as safe as possible."
A police spokeswoman said officers were investigating the incident.
Witnesses are asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

“So sad to see kids still being attacked on that park.
As a child / young teenager I was attacked on Alvaston Park often by a gang of five lads made up of two skivvy, lazy and scum families that still live in Alvaston/Wilmorton.
I was stabbed with a knife by one of the chav scum as well.
I thought with the improvements to the area - it had improved but clearly the council will hide behind their rhetoric.”

That really is one of the more pathetic posts I've read on here - no amount of violence or even intimidation should be acceptable let alone suggesting self defence classes as an alternative. Pointing fingers at the victims/ family really is low when all they were reportedly doing is make proper use of a public facility.”

Not saying it's ok what's happened. Just the headline and the "left them in hospital" is very misleading seeing as they were in and out of hospital.
Mother, maybe you should send him to self defence classes instead of shooing him out the front door to the park?
Allowing him to be pictured trying to look like his "attackers" isn't the best idea, you are really irresponsible in doing that and possibly leaving him open to more violence.”

“Those thugs who beat up the children are probably from the "problem" families who are having money thrown at them hand over fist. There is no incentive for them to change as they will lose all their perks if they did. Instead of throwing money at them in an effort to curb their offspring's behaviour perhaps the relevent department should apply more stick and less carrot. As usual the children who do behave get nothing, while the little scroats get the free cinema tickets and trips to Alton Towers in an effort to make them behave. Anyone else see what's wrong with that senario?”

The cr*p parents are the ones who themselves were brought up by politically correct cant smack the children lefties.
This stupid "cant hit the children" nonsense started in the late 60's, and each generation since then has got worse. Maybe National Service would straighten the cowardly little thugs out, but no doubt that would breach their "human rights" or some such nonsense.

Parents have to instil this kind of respect into their children, which in most cases they do, it's the cr*p parent that need the good hiding.
The country should start thinking about how these "cr*p" parent are handled, nip it in the bud and monitor them, the authorities aren't stupid, these sort of parent stand out like a sore thumb, you know the sort of parent I'm talking about, the ones that swear in public in front of their children, the ones that make a scene in the supermarket, the ones that walk around at 16 years old pushing a baby in a push chair with a s***** terrier off the lead on a busy road whilst sipping a tin of super strength lager at 9am..... You know the sort!
