Britain top of 'spending more than income' table
ERIC Goodyear may rightly say that our debt is not excessive "This claim that Britain is debt-ridden is untrue", (Letters, August 21), but the problem lies in our current account.
As a percentage of GDP, Government spending is 10.3 per cent more than income and that is the highest percentage in the world. Spain is 9.9 per cent, Greece is 9.2 per cent, USA is 8.8 per cent and Egypt is 8.7.
We have to get closer to balance or the debt will increase and overwhelm us.
