Britain treats its women just as badly as India
I AM writing in response to David Culm's letter "Women, make a stand, walk beside your men" (Derby Telegraph, January 14).
Firstly, women are treated just as badly here, in a "socially developed" society – sexual assaults, pay differences, lack of promotion, etc. Bad attitudes towards women are just as prevalent in the native population.
The media is always quick to pick up on negative news from India. Western influence has some part to play in the escalation of sexual violence in that country, which seeks to lose its centuries of good moral values to become liberal.
