Brothers move on to dancing
AS THE Scary movie series hardly hit the comedy highs, the fact that the team behind those spoofs have turned their hand to dance films is not really a recommendation.
Lowest-common-denominator comedy has always been the way forward for the Wayans brothers, so expect more of the same in Dance Flick (Cert 15, 83 mins).
This latest spoof takes pot-shots at Make It Happen, Save The Last Dance, Step Up, Stomp The Yard and other sharply-choreographed recent hits.
Dance Flick starts today at the Showcase, Odeon and Cinema De Lux in Derby and at Cineworld in Burton.
THE other new film at the multiplexes this week is I Love You, Beth Cooper(Cert 15, 101 mins).
Adapted from his novel of the same name by screenwriter Larry Doyle, this is the story of the stereotypical high school geek (Paul Rust) who declares his love for the unreachable girl of his dreams (Hayden Panettiere) – and who then spends a night trying to win her in a series of madcap adventures.
Panettiere is best know for being the star of the TV sci-fi series Heroes and the subject of the show's catchline: "Save the cheerleader, save the world."
It is directed by Chris Columbus, who helmed the first two Harry Potters. It starts today at the Showcase, Odeon and Cinema De Lux in Derby and at Cineworld, Burton.
