Bulls' lack of goals will not change boss's approach as Brewers aim to strike back

PAUL Peschisolido will not be fooled by Hereford United's poor form in front of goal when Burton Albion take on the Bulls at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow.

Having faced one of the division's more free-scoring sides last week in Cheltenham Town – and shut them out all but for the three minutes in which they scored twice – the Brewers now face the most shot-shy team in League Two.

Hereford have managed only one goal in five games this season, scoring it, through centre-back Janos Kovacs, in an opening-day 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra before embarking on what is, so far, 376 minutes without a goal.

But the Brewers manager says his team's approach to both games will be just the same.

"I don't buy that stuff about them not being able to score," said Peschisolido.

"I'm not thinking that we can go all gung-ho at them just because they've only scored once.

"Every team has dangerous players and they have Stuart Fleetwood, for one, who is strong and fast."

Fleetwood will be remembered by Brewers supporters for his Conference Golden Boot winning season at Forest Green Rovers in 2007-8, when he scored 33 goals and earned himself a move to Charlton Athletic.

Fleetwood has not hit such heights again, in loan spells at Cheltenham Town, Brighton & Hove Albion and Exeter City, and signed for Hereford in the summer.

The Bulls also added Cameroon striker Amadou Rabihou and German utility player Dominic Werling in the transfer window but Peschisolido knows the route to not conceding goals lies within his own team.

Centre-backs Darren Moore and Nathan Stanton were caught out for both of Cheltenham's goals in last week's 2-1 defeat but the manager has been looking at the cycle of play leading up to them.

"There is usually a cycle of three consecutive errors leading to a goal and you have to break that cycle somewhere," he said.

"For one of the goals, first there was a poor pass to lose us the ball, then two tackles in midfield that we backed out of, before they were running at us.

"We've discussed that and we'll discuss it again.

"They're just little mental things and it's about not switching off.

"We're asking players to be mentally strong for 90 minutes and we don't think it's too much to ask.

"But we'll get there and, overall, I'm happy that we're stronger and more solid defensively than last season."

Apart from being without midfielder Adam Bolder, who disolocated his shoulder against Cheltenham, Burton have a doubt over striker Greg Pearson, who limped out of the reserve team game at Telford on Tuesday night with a groin strain.
