MORE than £6,000 has been raised for Derbyshire's Treetops hospice at a charity Burns Night event.

The evening was held at Staffordshire stately home Heath House and saw 150 guests welcomed by a traditional Scottish piper on arrival.

Raffle and auction gifts were provided by local companies.

Peter Trembling from Notts County Football Club donated match day tickets and match day lunches in the club's restaurant.

MP Liz Blackman donated a House of Commons bottle of whisky signed by Gordon Brown and Lord Ralph donated a day's shooting at Melbourne Hall.

Kate Shaw, from Treetops, said: "I feel on a real high. It was such good fun. Everyone got involved and in the Burns spirit. The dress code was black tie with a touch of tartan and everyone looked amazing."

Anyone wishing to get involved in future fund-raising is asked to call Kate on 0115 9394551.
