DERBY County stopper Stephen Bywater had his record as Rochdale's youngest-ever goalkeeper broken this week.

Danny Taberner replaced the injured Kenny Arthur for Tuesday night's live televised FA Cup first round replay against Luton Town at Spotland.

At 16 years and 147 days old, Taberner beat Bywater's record, set back in January 1998, by 66 days.

Although League Two Rochdale were beaten 2-0 by Blue Square Premier side Luton, boss Keith Hill was impressed by the performance of his young keeper.

"It was sink or swim and he definitely swam," said Hill. "He didn't let himself down at all."
