DERBY County goalkeeper Stephen Bywater admitted Swansea City were the better side at the Liberty Stadium last night but still felt the Rams were unlucky not to come away with a point.

Argentine left-back Federico Bessone struck from an unlikely angle nine minutes from time, his first goal for the Welsh club, to send Nigel Clough's men to a 1-0 defeat.

"It hit the top of the near post, just under the crossbar and went it," said Bywater.

"I don't think he meant it. He probably meant to strike it but not that well.

"He came a long way from left-back and we've not picked him up.

"We got into the last 10 minutes and probably a bit of a lack of concentration allowed them to have a chance and to score a goal."

Bywater, who had earlier produced good saves to deny Craig Beattie and Darren Pratley, added: "I thought we dug in well – they are not a bad side.

"We didn't play well in the first half but I thought we were better in the second half.

"In the end, it was tough on us not to come away with a 0-0.

"It was a tough game. They played well, to be fair, and we were poor.

"We can improve on that."

“It wasn't just Moxey's fault. What about Savage's half hearted effort at tracking back? Did anybody see him on the Leicester City Appreciation Society Show on the BBC last night? Irritated to say the least with Claridge.”

“Just seen the "highlights" and, surprise, surprise, ball given away by Moxey in a comfortable position to allow Swansea to score. The fact that he has been in the team all season is, sad to say, one reason for me to think that maybe all the doom mongers saying NC is out of his depth may have a point.”

“Well Stephen I thought you were Derby's best player. That says how close it was”
