“When the club approached me about coming back to Spotland I didn’t hesitate,” said Hill.

“Rochdale Football Club will, and always will remain dear to me, and to be honest it was a no-brainer."

NOTTINGHAM Forest are reported to be closing in on Birmingham City winger Chris Burke.

Burke played under Forest boss Alex McLeish at St Andrews.

The former Cardiff City wide man is out of contract in the summer and Birmingham could cash in due to their financial problems.

CARDIFF City could offer a deal to free agent Simon Lappin.

Lappin was released by Norwich City this week and could return to Cardiff, where he had a loan spell at the end of last season.

The 29-year-old can play in midfield or at left-back.

FULHAM are reported to be lining up a move for Blackpool midfielder Ludovic Sylvestre.

Sylvestre, whose contract expires in the summer, has also been linked with Crystal Palace.
