COCKSPUR DELIGHT FOR SANDIACRE
OCKBROOK & Borrowash found Cockspur Cup progress a step too far when they were knocked out of the national competition at Chester-le-Street in Durham yesterday.
But Sandiacre Town are still flying the Derbyshire flag in the competition, after a comfortable win at Kendal in the Lake District.
Sandiacre bowled out Kendal for 109 on a wet wicket, with all-rounder James Chapman taking three wickets.
They then cruised to their target in 30 overs, with an unbeaten half-century from captain and opener John Trueman.
Ockbrook were set a target of 214 by Chester-le-Street but, for once, their top order was unable to rise to the challenge.
Chris Dunn battled hard further down the order and was on 77 not out when they closed 15 runs short on 199-8 in their 45 overs.
Sandiacre are now at home to Chester-le-Street in the last eight of the competition on August 3.
