Campaign group appoints director
RURAL campaigners have appointed a new leader.
The Countryside Alliance, which works to improve farmland and outdoor areas across the country, has given the role of regional director for the North of England to Simon Hamlyn.
Mr Hamlyn will now be responsible for a number of areas, including Derbyshire.
He said he wanted to address a number of local issues, including the lack of low-cost housing and helping children to practically understand the countryside.
He said: "I am delighted to now be a part of the Countryside Alliance team.
"I am looking forward to meeting and working with as many members and supporters as possible.
"I am here to represent them, their views and to ensure a strong voice for the wide range of issues currently affecting the countryside."
