Campaigners hold two-hour vigil for Ilkeston GP surgery closure
CAMPAIGNERS marked the closure of a GP surgery in Ilkeston with a two-hour vigil yesterday
But Amanda Jackson, one of the 100 people who stood outside The Ilkeston Family Practice in Heanor Road, insisted the fight was still not over.

A walk-in centre at the surgery closed last month but Mrs Jackson said the Save Ilkeston GP group was still waiting for responses to several questions.
She said: "We came to say goodbye to the staff at the centre and to say thank-you but we are still hopeful the closure will be reviewed.

"We are taking the fight to the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, and we specifically want to know why no consultation was held over the closure."
The centre, which has shut with the loss of 14 jobs, had more than 1,500 registered patients but health trust NHS Derbyshire County said the decision to close would reduce duplication of services.
Mrs Jackson said: "The surgery was open 84 hours a week, compared to 40 hours elsewhere. Now people are having to go to Derby or Nottingham out of hours."
