Campaigners take out full page ad to press surgery fight
CAMPAIGNERS who fought to keep open a GP surgery and walk-in centre have now voiced their plans to continue their fight – through the Derby Telegraph.
The Save Ilkeston GP campaign has purchased the full-page advertisement on Page 6 today. It features a letter to local health bosses asking them to think again.
A walk-in centre at The Ilkeston Family Practice closed in December, before the GP surgery shut down earlier this month.
The venue, which shut with the loss of 14 jobs, had more than 1,500 registered patients but health trust NHS Derbyshire County said the decision to close it has been made by "mutual consent".

It says this was to reduce duplication of services – as the practice opened in 2009 at a time when there were no extended hours available at GP surgeries.
But campaigner Amanda Jackson said: "Following the closures, it is clear the healthcare requirements of Ilkeston are no longer being adequately met.
"That is why the campaign team has decided to continue with the fight to get a walk-in centre reopened in Ilkeston."
