A YOUNG Derby woman who battled cervical cancer will take part in a charity walk to help others with the condition.

Rachel Bennett will take part in the second Walk for Fun, organised by cervical cancer charity Jo's Trust.

The event will be held in Royal Kensington Gardens, London, on Sunday, September 13.

Miss Bennett, 23, of Sidney Street, in Derby, organised a Walk for Fun in Derby last year on behalf of the charity, which raised £600. She said: "This year I'd love to raise several thousand pounds."

Miss Bennett was diagnosed with the cancer when she was 21, four years below the age at which women start to have routine checks, and has campaigned for the Government to lower the screening age to 20.

Now she is hoping to arrange to speak to young women about the condition at local universities, with dates yet to be arranged.
