Cancer survivor to swim across lake
A BREAST cancer survivor will swim a mile across a lake to raise money for others affected by the illness.
Bev Scott-Mullen was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2004 and has undergone successful surgery and treatment.
Now she is aiming to swim across Lake Windermere, in the Lake District, six years after her diagnosis.
She will take part in the Great North Swim in September and hopes to raise more than £1,000 for the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The 40-year-old, of Darley Park Road, Darley Abbey, said: "I used to swim quite a lot and I've swam a mile in the pool but going that distance across a lake will be quite different."
Bev will be cheered on by her children Bella, seven, and Ruby, five, and husband Caine.
