LONG-AWAITED plans to create a new public park in Sawley have been submitted to Erewash Borough Council.

Sawley Parish Council wants to transform a disused school off Tamworth Road playing field into the park with 12 car parking spaces.

The parish council has proposed to Derbyshire County Council that it should lease over 25 years, the former Lakeside Infant School playing field which has been left unattended because of lack of funds to maintain it.
