Car roof cut off to free injured driver after crash on A50

A MOTORIST had to be cut free from his car following a two-vehicle accident on the A50.

Firefighters had to cut the roof from the Toyota five-door saloon car to help get the driver out following the accident at 3.45pm yesterday.

Police say it was a "minor shunt" on the eastbound carriageway of the road, close to the slip road at junction 3, at the A514 to Chellaston.

A police spokesman said: "The firefighters helped the motorist free as he was complaining of neck and back pain."
