In the letter, drivers are also warned that if they are caught breaking the speed limit again they may face a penalty.
And that data recorded by the initiative may also help officers identify locations for speed detection equipment in the future.
A member of the local parish council joined PC Russ Crooks, from the safer neighbourhood policing team, to conduct the Community Speedwatch this week.
PC Crooks said:" The initiative was in support of national road safety week but also highlighted the need for motorists to adhere to the speed limit for this particular area of Little Eaton.
"When the flashing 20mph signs are illuminated outside schools, the speed limit for that area is reduced to 20mph to ensure a safer environment for when the children are leaving or going to school. We ask that motorists are mindful of this fact."
