Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves targeted parked cars in Spondon.

Four vehicles parked in Dale Road and Ormskirk Rise in Spondon had items stolen from them between 8.30pm on Monday and 7.30am yesterday.

Items stolen included a laptop and money.

PCSO Kate Bannister from the Spondon Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We are keen to stop any further criminal damage to cars taking place, however residents can do a lot to prevent these crimes in the first place.

"Make sure you have secured your vehicle, locking it everytime you leave it. Do not leave anything on display and ideally do not leave anything in the car altogether.

"Simple steps but it is surprising how many people do not take them."
