Change in control of neighbourhood boards planned
CONTROL of neighbourhood boards which decide what action residents want in their areas will switch to Derby City Council.
Currently the neighbourhood boards and forums are managed by the Community Safety Partnership made up of organisations including the city council, police and voluntary bodies.
But councillors are now being recommended to split up the roles of the partnership so the neighbourhood boards would come under a new neighbourhoods department.
The partnership would be left to concentrate on the key themes it was set up to address, like prevention of anti-social behaviour and creating community cohesion.
A decision is due from the council's cabinet on Tuesday.
In addition the "Neat" function of the partnership, which looks at keeping the streets clean, has already been transferred to the Streetpride section.
