ORGANISERS of this year's Race for Life in Derby are hoping to raise £400,000.

More than 1,600 people have already entered the annual race in aid of Cancer Research.

Based on the number of people who signed up last week, the charity said it hoped that more than 8,000 people would take part and raise more than £400,000.

The annual event, at Darley Park, takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 9 and 10.

There will be a similar event at Donington Park on Tuesday, July 7.

Last year, more than 6,500 women walked or ran the Darley Park course, raising £388,240.

People who want to take part in any of the races should visit www.raceforlife.org or call 0871 641 2282.
