THE British Heart Foundation is hoping to open an electrical and household goods store in Derby.

The heart charity already has a clothing store in the Cornmarket in Derby.

Now, it plans to open BHF Furniture and Electrical store in Babington Lane after having an offer of the former Walmsley's shop there accepted.

The charity has 141 of the electrical stores across the country and is planning to open 40 additional ones in the UK this year.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: "The furniture and electrical stores raise £26million annually for the charity."

A planning application has been submitted to Derby City Council for permission to erect signs on the property ready for the store's opening.

However, the charity said no opening date had yet been set.

A planning decision is due in March.
