Chesney Hughes provides the highlight of first day for Derbyshire CCC in Barbados
A CENTURY for Chesney Hughes and good innings from Billy Godleman and Wes Durston highlighted a very satisfying first day of competitive action for Derbyshire in their pre-season tour to Barbados.
Put in to bat by Northants, Derbyshire scored 313-9 in their 90 overs. It will be their turn to have a day in the field tomorrow.

Godleman, playing for the county for the first time, batted through the first session and looked very solid before he was caught at point for 37 in the fourth over after lunch.
Durston was out cheaply in the morning but took the chance to have a second bat with both hands and remained unbeaten at the close on 65.

But Hughes was the pick of the performers on the day for Derbyshire, hitting 18 fours and a six off 127 balls as he moved on to 109 and retired out at tea.
