Children are given plenty of reasons to cheer with fun half-term activities
CHEERLEADING, swimming and BMX sessions are among children's activities being run across Derby by the city council during the half-term break.
On Monday and Wednesday, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm Queen's Leisure Centre is hosting "Splashout sessions" with inflatable floats, rafts and water toys.

This is for all ages, with families welcome.
On Tuesday and Thursday, also from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, strong swimmers, aged eight to 15, are invited to take the plunge for "high adrenalin" inflatable sessions at the same centre.

In both cases there is no need to book.
The sessions will cost adults £3.10, with £2.25 concessions.
On Tuesday, Cycle Derby is holding a BMX Coaching Day at Alvaston Park's track, open to children aged 10 to 16 years old. It costs £12 and runs from 10am until 2pm.
The organisation is also running "learn to ride" sessions at Markeaton Park on Tuesday and Thursday.
Sessions, costing £7.50, run from 10am with the last session at 2pm. To book places at either event, call Derby 641747.
On Thursday, children can take part in cheerleading sessions at Springwood Leisure Centre, where they will learn chants, motions, jumps and tumbling moves before putting together their own routine.
This will run from 1pm until 2.30pm, costing £3.15. To book, call Derby 664433.
