BOOKWORMS from 10 schools across the county have written and illustrated their own stories.

Children took part in a series of workshops at Derby's Westfield shopping centre.

The 10 stories, published on Westfield's website, were written as part of the centre's Reading Rocks campaign.

Westfield manager Janine Bone said: “We wanted to do something which helped to promote literacy.”

Schools that took part were Allenton Primary School, Ash Croft Primary School, Bishop Lonsdale CE Aided Primary and Nursery School, Chaddesden Park Junior School, Gayton Junior School, Mickleover Primary School, Royal School for the Deaf, Shelton Junior School, St John's Church of England Primary School and Turnditch CE (Aided) Primary School.
