Choir members sing like Angels
DERBY Cathedral Choir has made a number of recordings in the past but the latest, Angel Voices, is the first one that the trebles have had more or less to themselves.
It gives a fair overview of their repertoire, from established works to recent commissions. These include Grayston Ives' The Beatitudes, written for the girls' choir's 10th anniversary in 2007.
Tracks are shared out between the girls and the boys, who come together for four items and are joined by the songmen for the final hymn, from which the disc takes its title.
Highlights include former conductor of Derby Choral Union David Fisher's Tiffany Anthem, and Philip Moore's effective Fauxbourdon Service.
Angel Voices by Derby Cathedral Choir, featuring Tom Corfield and Ben Bloor and conducted by Peter Gould, is available from the Cathedral Coffee Shop at £10. For details, call 01332 341201 extension 41.
