Christmas shopping can be fun at festive market
MATLOCK'S popular Victorian Christmas Weekend and Market has been extended this year to meet demand.
The event, which runs from Friday, November 30, to Sunday, December 2, is held in Hall Leys Park and features more than 150 stalls in heated marquees.

Shop local this Christmas and buy your supplies from a farmers' market or food fair.
New for this year are a local produce marquee and a bigger outdoor market featuring cookery demonstrations by Sainsbury's. There will also be traditional crafts, Christmas gifts and festive refreshments, including a mulled wine stall.
Accompanying the market will be a comprehensive entertainment programme, including a procession on the Saturday through the streets of Matlock, with Father Christmas travelling by horse and carriage, and music by Midshipman Carnival Show Band. After the parade, the town's Christmas lights will be switched on by BBC TV presenter Anna Church at 4.45pm.

Entertainment on the park will include jugglers, a fire-eater, clown, owls and robotic entertainers. The event will end with a fireworks display on the Sunday at 5.15pm.
