Circle of events if we are charged to use brown bin
ANOTHER example of public suffering due to political posturing is looming with the city council's proposal to charge for brown bin collections.
It is very apt that this latest farce is, once again, about rubbish or waste – two words often associated with the Labour Party.
The obvious solution to avoid paying for the (council imposed) brown bin is to put the material in the black bin.
Bin men will be paid overtime rates to sift through the contents of black bins belonging to suspected subversives and find unsuitable contents. The guilty parties will then be accused of un-sociable practices and fined – the resulting monies to be used to pay the overtime bills.

“It says it all – Labour cannot organise the removal of rubbish. The one thing that affects the vast majority of the public and they cannot manage it without charging twice. This is the real Labour Party.”

“I will NOT be paying them. I do hope they try to charghe/fine me as that will give me the opportunity to test the legality of it in court. It is illegal to charge twice for the same service and I look forward to seeing the council with egg on its face.”

“Agree - if you 'opt out' (if that's possible - I assume the council will collect the bins from those not opting in), then you might as well expect the next council letter through your door to be that fine.
I'm creative when it comes to food waste (veg peel/bones get bagged/frozen and makes stock and I even made candied banana peel once) but there's no way to save it all, short of composting (not realistic unless you've the garden for it).
I won't deny (unlike politicians) that I moaned when the 3 bin system was put in (black, blue for bottles/cans and brown for food/card/paper) but I got used to it, and actually found this whole recycling lark easier than maybe just bunging it all in the one bin. Then came the hot air balloon orange bag, and now they're going to charge for being green. It's an absolute joke.”
