Jon Clare, the days after scoring his maiden first-class

century, was a force with the ball on the third morning of

Derbyshire's LV County Championship match against

Northants.

He struck with the second ball of the morning, pinning Stephen

Peters back lbw for 24, before the home side had added to their

overnight 48-0.

Rob White came in with aggressive intent to hit three fours but

was caught behind by Jamie Pipe off Clare for 12 at 60-2 and it

was 92-3 when David Sales was lbw to Clare for 13.

At the end of his spell, Clare was 3-34 in nine overs.

Charl Langeveldt got in the act to bowl Nicky Boje for 14 at

120-4 but Niall O'Brien (62 not out) and Lance Klusener (14 not

out) took Northants to 148-4 at lunch, still needing 188 more

runs to avoid the follow-on.
