Club tributes to player David Reid who collapsed during match
THIS photograph has been released of a young rugby player who died after collapsing on the pitch during a Derby Rugby Club match.
David Reid was playing at the club's Darley Abbey ground when he suddenly fell ill. Team-mates said he appeared to have a fit and then stopped breathing.
As reported in the Derby Telegraph yesterday, attempts were made to resuscitate him but Mr Reid, 31, of Derby, was later pronounced dead at Royal Derby Hospital.
Police were called to the Haslams Lane ground on Saturday at about 3.40pm, after reports a player had fallen ill during the match.

Yesterday, fellow players and Martyn Murney, chairman of the club, were among those paying tribute.
They said Mr Reid was "a real genuine bloke", with a "dry sense of humour" who loved rugby. They said he would always be the first to phone the captain to get his name on the team sheet.
