TWO teenagers who admitted stealing a coat from a Matlock club have agreed to clear up graffiti in the town to compensate for their crime.

The 18-year-olds snatched the item of clothing from the Edgefold Club on Tuesday.

Police officers caught up with the teenagers within 30 minutes and returned the coat to the victim.

The pair apologised for taking it and agreed to clear graffiti at the rear of the shops on Firs Parade to compensate for what they did. The crime was dealt with under restorative justice. Under this, victims of crime can choose whether offenders make amends in other ways, such as fixing a vandalised fence.
