    “markone

Of course it's worth a mention - it's just not worth THAT much of a mention. We live in a country that gets wintry weather, why does it always seem to come as such a surprise to everyone?”

    “Journalistic gem? Slow news week?

Some people need to find something witty to say rather than just third-rate sarcasm. There's no sensational journalistic scoop in reporting that we will probably get some tricky weather over the next few days - if they didn't mention it, you'd all be up in arms at how the paper could possibly miss the weather when the rest of the country knows about it.”

“Four inches of snow, wow! Catastrophic! But I am sure some people will be able to share memories of 1963, when we still went to school despite it being the coldest winter for centuries. Snow drifts reached the hight of 27 feet! Although in Derby they were not much deeper that 15 feet.

This Movietone film shows what it was like and I just love the shot of an old steam locomotive fitted with a snow plough speeding along a deep snow covered track.
