Colts through to semi-finals with thumping victory

DERBY Colts ran in 10 tries as they booked their place in the semi-finals of the Leicestershire Cup with a comprehensive 64-5 win against Syston at Haslams Lane.

Callan Watson, Aaron Finnegan, Jack Coombs, Sam Martin, Jake Barker and Jake Thompson touched down in the opening period as the hosts took a 38-0 half-time lead.

Syston got the first score of the second half but Derby hit back, with Ben Edmundson, Lewis Hancock, man of the match Coombs and Luke Frixou adding further tries.

George Castledine kicked seven conversions.

Burton are also through to the last four of the competition after they saw off Loughborough 26-24.

The Crofters' tries came from Steve McRobbie, Paddy Gaunt and Jack Walford.

Tom Cooper chipped in with three penalties and a conversion.
