D2N2 LEP has appointed Colliers to assess the contribution tourism makes to the regional economy
D2N2 is a public/private sector partnership, which aims to boost job creation, skills development and economic growth in both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
It hopes to use Colliers’ findings to produce a Visitor Economy Investment Plan, which will shape future policy and promotional campaigns and provide evidence to support financial investment in the sector.

“The thing with consultations is that, regardless of their findings, it still costs money.
I was always under the impression that when it comes to looking at our tourism 'offer' for visitors, we have sufficient knowledgeable resources immediately to hand such as the destinations themselves, local businesses, heritage groups, volunteer organizations such as the canal trust and wildlife entities, internet resources such as TripAdvisor to see what we're doing right (and, more importantly, wrong), Lonely Planet, and finally but not least, Joe Public whose footsoldiers are on the ground at the front line every day living and breathing here. We all have opinions and a voice- it would be nice if somebody listened instead of bringing in so called experts from Manchester at considerable expense in these straitened times.
Oh, well.......”

“How much is this costing? I thought all councils were making cuts because they have less fundingfrom Government? So while jobs are being lost, services decimated Derbyshire Country Council along with Nottingham think it's okay to spend money on a "consultation".
Somehow I think the voters have some hard thinking to do come local election time, after all who wants councillors who waste money they haven't got on something that serves no purpose.”

“Derbyshire a "global destination of distinction." Your having a laugh.
While parts of Derbyshire are very attractive they hardly compare with Wales or Scotland. I don't think a couple of stately homes can compete with London.
Just where do these people get their fanciful ideas from?”
